Bee Hive Project

                           Bee Hive Project.

Last year room 14started the Earthship by building a foundation of earth filed tyres.

This year we entered the Trans Power Neighbourhood Engineer competition.

We are working with Christian and Gay from Future in Tech to design and build a beehive

Today we worked on how to heat the bee hive so the bees don't cold, sick and die.

Our Challenge is to build a safe an a appropriate beehive for our school and community to study bees.

This is us planning the bee hive with the rulers.
In our bee group there is David,Cayden,Edward,Tevita,Kevin,Julius and Payton.

We measured how long the poles were so we knew how much centre meters they were from each other and how high it was.

Then we filled up the tyres with dirt because they were to squishy. Below is our third layer of tyres.

Then we added some more layers. Christain helped us to figure out the correct size and amount of tyres needed!
We also had help from Conrad from Habitat From Humanity who checked our work to make sure the tyres were level and not going to fall over!

Then during the holidays we had a "building bee", to finish filling the tyres. Edwards's Dad, Edward Senior, then framed between the poles so we could nail wood up between the poles.

Then Edward Senior and Mr. P put in two windows in the front, just like we designed, so that people can look into the building and see what the bees are up to.

After that we added a door and finished off the building the sides of the building.

Finally we designed a roof with Christian and Gay from Future in Tech, then placed it ontop.
