Term Three Art Project

This term we are working on an art project for the school art exhibit.

We are learning about Joan Miro, he is a Spanish surrealist artist. We are going to study one of his art pieces named Daybreaker, see the picture below.
Daybreaker is an oil painting, with a surrealism theme best described as art that is dream-like.

Edward describes what the painting means to him:
I think the painting shows the sun changing night into day.

Name
I think this because to me the name Daybreaker means to break up the night and day.

Two sides
I think the blue side represent the night, because it is dark and has a star, which are usually seen at night. I think the green side represent morning, because green can only be seen in light.

Creature
I think the creature in the middle represents the sun because its color is yellow and red like the sun. Also, because the creature is in between the night and day and it is the sun the causes the night to turn into day.

The Process
We will start by drawing a small copy of daybreaker, and double its size twice, to make the same picture twice bigger. We still have not chosen our backgrounds or what how will color the picture.
